The Providence Capitals' popular Learn to Skate / Learn to Play Program is offered at RI Sports Center in North Smithfield, RI.   Lynch Arena in Pawtucket, RI and Cranston Veterans Memorial Rink in Cranston RI.

Our programs offer a professional coaching staff who will work with each individual player from when they first step on the ice to when they make their first hockey team. Our program is designed to let each player learn how to skate, develop the skills to play hockey and most importantly have fun. We want each player to grow as a player but to love the game of hockey.

Learn to Skate

The Providence Capitals Learn to Skate program is designed to help players of all ages develop strong skating fundamentals in a fun and encouraging environment. Participants focus on balance, edge control, stopping, and overall confidence on the ice, guided by experienced coaches who emphasize proper technique and individual progress. This program provides the essential foundation needed for future hockey development while making learning to skate an enjoyable experience.

Learn to Play

The Providence Capitals Learn to Play program helps players take the next step by applying their skating skills to the game of hockey. Athletes are introduced to core hockey skills such as stickhandling, passing, shooting, and basic game concepts through age-appropriate drills and small-area games. With an emphasis on skill development, teamwork, and fun, the program prepares players for organized hockey while fostering a love for the game.
